There is now a Birchwood School Garden Facebook Page! Join the group and get the latest updates!
Last night I met with a group of folks that are interested in putting togather several community gardens through out the nieghborhood. As this group had met a couple of times before my role was to soak it in and see how I might be able to contribute. Turns out I might be able to make some connections, as I know of two neighborhood institutions that are interested in hosting a community garden.
We are going to be meeting on the 3rd Tuesday evening of every month and the first project on the list is to see about partnering with Birchwood Elementary and creating a school garden for the students as a learning opportunity.
Email me if you are interested!

Tonight there is a meeting of folks interested in developing a community garden. If anyone is interested, email me and I will get you the info needed to participate.
Some responses to some potential questions you may have…
What is a community garden? A community gardend is a garden that is planted, maintained, and therefore enjoyed by members of the community. It is open to everyone in the neighborhood.
Why a community garden? Community gardens are great because they are a perfect example of what neighborhood should be. Neighbors rubbing elbows as they till the soil, plant, water, and harvest. It becomes a conversation piece and can become a gathering spot.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
