WE WILL HAVE A WORK PARTY AFTER SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 12, AT 2:30 pm.

Starbucks is sponsoring this work party.   They will be sending 3 people to keep track of how many volunteers come to work and how many hours the volunteers will work. They are donating $10 per volunteer per hour!   THE MORE VOLUNTEERS WE GET THAT DAY, THE MORE STARBUCK’S WILL GIVE US (UP TO $1,000) FOR A PROJECT THEY DO CALLED “MAKE YOUR MARK DAY.” The weather is forcasted to be beautiful and the garden needs your help.  Come and help raise some funds to supply the garden.

Thank you as always for your generous support,

Laura Phipps

Tomorrow (Saturday), April 3rd, there will be a work party at Birchwood Elementary.  Come show your support from 10am to 2pm.  See here for more info!

Greetings! I’ve made some updates to the Neighborhood Things I Am Involved In section…feel free to peruse for your enjoyment.

Hope your Spring is off to a good start!

This coming Saturday from 10am until 2pm there will be a work party at Birchwood Elementary to finish getting the school garden ready for Spring!  Bring the family and come on out to support our neighborhood school.

Below is a list of things needed from Laura Phipps, the volunteer coordinator for the Birchwood School Garden.

Birchwood School Garden Wish List:

(We ask that all of these items be gently used and in good shape.

And we thank you!!)

3 wheelbarrows

8 watering cans (with diffused spray ends, I don’t know quite what to call it)

hoses

3 forks

2 leaf rakes

2 metal rakes

5 shovels

2 spades

Pruners

Loppers

More gloves (surprisingly, we can use more gloves, especially bigger kid gloves)

Tarps (large, clean)

Lots of cardboard (this is a time sensitive item.  We need cardboard on or beforeApril 3rd, the day of our work party)

The sun was out today and folks all around the Birchwood Neighborhood were mowing lawns and tending to gardens!

We played in the backyard with our son (almost one!) and our dog Fleur.

What a beautiful day! What did you do today?

Tonight we had our February BNA board meeting. There are lots of things happening in our neighborhood from a development standpoint so make sure to attend the March general meeting to get all the relevant details and make sure to share your opinions about what is going on.

Last week we had a great Birchwood Neighborhood General Meeting! We elected 2 new members to the board and celebrated the retirement of Louise Bjornson from the city council. She has served our neighborhood well for many years and we wish her the best of luck in retirement!

Here are a few pictures I took from the event:
